The adjustment method for tap-changing and capacitance-adjusting arc-suppression coils is pre-adjustment. During normal grid operation, the inductive reactance of the arc-suppression coil is adjusted in advance to be close to the capacitive reactance of the line-to-ground capacitance, thereby bringing the power grid into a state close to resonance and causing a high potential at the neutral point. Therefore, in the complete set of arc-suppression coil equipment, a damping resistor device is added to use the damping resistor to suppress the displacement voltage at the neutral point to an appropriate level, thus maintaining normal system operation. When a single-phase ground fault occurs, a large current flows through the neutral point. To prevent the damping resistor from being burned out and to ensure better compensation current output, the damping resistor must be quickly short-circuited. Once the single-phase ground fault is eliminated, the damping resistor returns to normal operation. The damping resistor can be connected in series with the main circuit of the arc-suppression coil, or alternatively, a secondary winding can be added to the secondary side of the arc-suppression coil, with the damping resistor connected in parallel across this secondary winding.
