Cable distribution box

A cable distribution box is used exclusively for cable branching. Its primary function is to tap into or reroute cables, serving mainly as a cable tapping point and a cable rerouting device.
With the ongoing advancement of cableization in distribution networks, when small-capacity, independent loads are relatively concentrated, cable branch boxes can be used to connect multiple cable branches. However, branch boxes cannot directly operate each individual circuit.
1) Cable branching function: On a relatively long transmission line, using multiple small-area cables can often lead to cable wastage. Therefore, in the section from the main feeder to the electrical load, a large-capacity trunk cable is typically used for the initial feed. Then, closer to the load, cable distribution boxes are employed to divide the trunk cable into several smaller-area cables, which subsequently supply power directly to the loads. This wiring method is widely used in urban power grids—for example, in street lighting and power supply to small-scale users.
2) Cable splicing and transition function. On a relatively long transmission line, if the cable length does not meet the line’s requirements, it becomes necessary to use cable connectors or cable transition boxes. Typically, for short distances, intermediate cable connectors are employed; however, when the line is longer—based on experience, for cable lines exceeding 1,000 meters—if there are multiple intermediate connectors along the cable route, a cable distribution box is often considered for transition purposes.
